Goldfaden MD Skincare Works

Hello! In this article, I review some of my favourite Goldfaden MD skincare products.

As they are products that I would consider as luxury products, I have tested over a fairly significant time.

I've also purchased two products after I finished those, so I guess this is sort of a "empties" type of review as well?

In this article, I will be talking about the following products:

  • Detox Hydrating Gel*

  • Skin Balancing Mask*

  • Facial Detox Mask**

  • Doctor's Scrub Advanced**

  • Bright Eyes

The items marked with an * were gifted to me by Mecca as well as the two that are marked with ** which were the two that I bought when I finished them. I purchased "Bright Eyes" as I was told my the Goldfaden MD representatives I met at an event, that it was Mecca's No. 1 selling eye cream.

In Australia and New Zealand, you can purchase them from Mecca: https://www.mecca.com.au/goldfaden-md/

Quite a few of the products are for oily acne-prone skin and I do have my favourite anti-blemish products from another USA based brand called Murad, but each brand has its own different merits and they have products that cater for different aspects for oily acne-prone skin. You can read my article on those products by clicking on the link below: https://www.teacupofmakeup.com/blog/how-murad-changed-my-life

THE FIVE

Goldfaden MD's products are made without harsh synthetics and are vegetarian and cruelty-free. A lot of the ingredients used are derived from plant-based actives.

I have demonstrated these products a fair few times on my instastories on my Instagram page @teacupofmakeup_luxe.

Let's start with the Facial Detox mask which I feel is a really soothing and confidence building product for me. It pairs very nicely the Doctor's Scrub Advanced and so I do recommend buying these two together. These were the two products that I finished and purchased.

My Hero product

THIS WORKS. I continue to suffer the side effects of a particular medication I am on. I've now stopped using that medication (about a year ago), but it has left me with huge pustules of hard cystic acne, let's call them "GIANT PAIN SPOTS a.k.a. GPS", around my jaw on both sides of my face. They are so deep below the skin that they can't be extracted unless by a dermatologist. I've been hopeful that with more time and exfoliation, they will go away.

I generally do not get many spots on my face (knock on wood) but do get the occasional spot or two during that time of the month.

OK. This Facial Detox mask really helps me when my GPS flare up. They start to get very red, they bloat up, itchy and painful. It happens randomly and I don't really know why. SO this Facial Detox mask immediately soothes and calms the pain and sort of flattens them out. So I do like to use this before an important event.

Light and Fluffy

This mask has a mousse like texture. It is very light and fluffy. It smells a bit like a mix of Sulfur and calamine lotion. The active ingredients are Zinc Oxide, Sulfur and Camphor. All ingredients well know to treat acne and soothe the skin.

I find it works most effectively for me if I apply it after using the Doctor's Scrub Advanced (which I will discuss more about below). So I first exfoliate and then I use a towel with warm water on my face and THEN apply this mask.

The mousse-like texture

I've also tried using it as a spot treatment and that works too.

The ingredients are:

Deionized Water, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Seed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Colloidal Sulfur, Camphor, Salicylic Acid, Bentonite, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Strelitzia Nicolai Seed Aril Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Sophora Japonica Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Lepidium Sativum Sprout Extract, Lecithin, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

Doctor's Scrub

This is a very cool product. The physical exfoliant is RUBY CRYSTALS. They are so fine and tiny you can hardly see it with your eyes. The Ruby Crystals have been ground down so that they are perfectly round. Which makes perfect sense as you wouldn't want jagged edge crystals rubbing on your skin. It does not feel as abrasive as some of the other scrubs I've tried.

I feel that I get a very similar effect from using it as I do when I get a microdermabrasion facial.

It does not have much of a fragrance to it. After using it, I can see an immediate brightening of my complexion.

The very fine texture.

The other active ingredients are:

  • organic red tea extract complex - packed with antioxidants and enzymes such as Vitamin C, E and Carotene.

  • seaweed extract - seaweed has skincare benefits such as having good humectants that draw in moisture. It has vitamin E which helps hydrate and heal. It also has amino acids which help improve your complexion by making it look smoother and feel firmer.

  • hyaluronic acid - well-known for hydrating the skin.

It has a light citrus and fresh green scent.

Tiny Rubies!

The ingredients are:

Ruby Crystals, Purified Water (Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside, Glycerine, Aspalathus Linearis (Red Tea) Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Seaweed) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Hyaluronic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglyceri

Detox Hydrating Gel

I've found that if I use this as my moisturiser day and night every day, my skin becomes more balanced and I get less of an oily t-zone. I also found that I got less spots on my face and the GPS (see above) remain more stable (less inflamed and not so itchy).

It has a slight tropical scent to it. A little bit like pineapples.

a light gel texture

It feels very cooling on the skin. I prefer to use this during Summer as its gel texture is perfect for hot and humid days. It is even more refreshing if you keep it in the fridge.

It contains a combination of BHA including salicylic acid which helps exfoliate the skin and prevent breakouts. Mallow extract is also a main active ingredient as it has moisturising and soothing properties to help with any irritation on your skin.

It also contains Goldfaden MD's proprietary "Detox Complex". This "complex" is made from ingredients including:

The combination of these ingredients is meant to help protect the skin from environmental stress and pollution. It is also described as having anti-aging benefits.

The ingredients are:

Water, Propanediol, Glycerin, Carrageenan, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate, Saccharide Isomerate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin (and) Marrubium Vulgare, Meristem Cell Culture (and) Xanthan Gum, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose gum, Salicylic Acid, Centella Asiatica Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Fruit Extract

Goldfaden MD's Skin Balancing Mask

This Skin Balancing Mask is a gentle gel mask that is meant to help rebalance your skin, reduce the appearance of pores and brighten and even out your complexion.

This smells like a combination of citrus and jojoba oil (which is one of the ingredients used). This mask is described as a botanical-rich gel mask with a multi-peptide and enzyme blend.

I found this mask to be very gentle. It also did make my skin feel more hydrated. When I used it twice a week, I could see a visible lightening of my hyperpigmentation. I enjoyed using this during Summer as it is a refreshing, light and soothing gel mask.

I really liked the fact that it included ingredients like ginseng, honey and jojoba oil. Great ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This contains Malic Acid which helps exfoliate the skin as well as having anti-oxidant benefits.

A light gel mask

I felt that this mask did exfoliate my skin effectively without the use of a physical exfoliator. I could use it even on days when I would get weird sore and weeping patches on my skin. This did not irritate those patches.

The ingredients are:

water, glycerin, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, ethyl macadamiate, lysolecithin, sclerotium gum, xanthan gum, pullulan, malic acid, tocopherol, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, gluconolactone, sodium benzoate, calcium gluconate, squalane, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, dehydroacetic acid, benzyl alcohol, carrageenan, glucose, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil, cellulose gum, glyceryl caprylate, dextran, caprooyl tetrapeptide-3, sambucus nigra flower extract, equisetum arvense extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, salvia geranium maculatum extract, panax ginseng extract, honey extract, rh-oligopeptide-1, sodium hydroxide.

The number 1 selling eye cream at Mecca

Once I heard that Goldfaden MD's Bright Eyes was the number 1 selling eye cream at Mecca (I learnt this last year), I knew I just had to try it.

Once I bought it, I used it continuously for about 3 weeks, day and night. It did lighten the rings under my eyes and helped with the tiny lines that appear right below my bottom eye lashes. I saw results after the first few days and was very pleasantly surprised.

This eye cream has a very interesting texture. Not quite cream and not quite gel, it is a bit like a mousse. A light and fluffy mousse. I think the texture helped it absorb so quickly. Again, there was not much fragrance to it.

Its active ingredients are soy peptide, rice bran extract, organic red tea and arnica. It also has apricot kernal oil in it for Vitamin A& E.

Soy and rice products do help with brightening the skin. Traditionally, rice water (the water you get from washing rice) has been used to soothe and brighten skin. The red tea has anti-oxidant properties and the arnica complex is meant to calm the skin.

Arnica is quite an interesting ingredient. It has been used in homeopathic treatments and is known to help with swelling and pain (click here to read more about it).

A very light and mousse like texture

The ingredients are:

Water, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Candelilla/Jojoba/Rice Bran Polyglyceryl-3 Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Xanthan Gum, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Superoxide Dismutase, Chon-drus Crispus (Seaweed) Extract, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cellulose Gum, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Aspalathus Linearis (Red Tea) Leaf Extract.

SHOULD YOU TRY THESE GOLDFADEN MD?

YUP. I would recommend these products. I liked two of them so much, I went and bought more after I finished them. If you like skincare that is rich in botanicals and want to see fast results, I would recommend these.

My top two of course are the Doctor's Scrub and Detox Mask. I love everything about these two products and they work really well with each other. So perhaps you might want to start with these two.

So I hope you enjoyed this article and found it useful. I'm pretty much on my social media platforms in some way or fashion 7 days a week. I hope you enjoyed this review.
