Review of Roemy Forest Parfum
ROEMY Forest Parfum 100ml

What ROEMY has to say about Forest:

> STORY

A culmination of Blue Mountain sun after a rain downpour. Addictive crisp air anchored to rich woody leather.

> PERSPECTIVE

Purity in the natural world transmuted to a soulful jazz club.

Notes:

Top: Bergamot, Cardamom

Middle: Fig, Leather, Violet

Bottom: Cedar, Sandalwood

ROEMY Forest Parfum retails for A$239 (100ml) and A$179 (55ml). Each fragrance also comes with a small traveller size allowing you tp try the parfum first and decide if you want to keep it or return it.

I think ROEMY is a pretty cool brand. Their products are vegan, cruelty free, and unisex. All of their products exclude harmful and potentially harmful chemicals and ingredients. So no parabens, SLS/SLES etc. They also do not use nitromusks (synthesised substitutes for natural macrocyclic musks).

I love their whole ethos and philosophy about creating products that are good for both body and soul. They are also aiming at reducing their carbon footprint to nil. To read more about them go to their "VISION".

Note also that ROEMY products are IFRA Approved. What does that mean? Read below:

"ROEMY products are proudly IFRA approved, which means there are no IFRA prohibited substances in ROEMY fragrances. IFRA prohibited substances are fragrance ingredients that the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has deemed unsafe for use in fragrance products. The IFRA is an independent regulatory body which performs toxicological research into the safety of fragrance ingredients. In conjunction with the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), the IFRA undertakes comprehensive research on individual fragrance ingredients, in order to develop a set of Standards and Code of Practice for each ingredient. The IFRA will recommend the banning of certain materials or impose limitations if research concludes this is necessary."

"The IFRA is an independent regulatory body, ROEMY is not required by law to adhere to these Standards or Codes of Practice, it is our choice." (source link)

My Thoughts on ROEMY Forest:

The Bottle: The bottle is a round glass bottle with a magnetic black cap embossed with "R". The label looks like recycled paper with just the words, "ROEMY" and "FOREST". Very minimalist chic. Note the following from their website:

"all our packaging is FSC certified and made with recycled materials, eco-ink and is recyclable. And we've eliminated all unnecessary plastics. The only place you'll find plastic is in your cap and atomiser hose—we're working on eliminating this too."

The Scent: I first got a hit of something juicy citrusy which quickly then became quite dry. You can definitely detect the cardamon, fig, leather and sandalwood. This came across as a very green fragrance, almost like the smell you get when you tear a branch from a tree. This is definitely a unisex fragrance, as it has both feminine and masculine features.

The Dry Down: The leather and cedar notes become more pronounced. As, I inhale it, I could almost feel the notes upon note composition of this fragrance. Like there's something that hits the top of my nose and then it trails. It becomes quite woody and green. "Crisp" is a good word to describe this parfum.

The Tastes: Dry. Like a "dry martini" dry. The bergamot is quite faint but helped by the fig and violets to soften the taste a bit.

The Colours: Browns and greens. I like how ROEMY described its "perspective", as being in a smokey jazz club. I can also see and feel the worn out leather couches and see the smoke from cigars. Now that most places are non-smoking, this gives it a "old times" nostalgic vibe.

The Feelings: Definitely jazzy. This is woody leathery green fragrance reminds me of old jazz clubs and antique stores. The kind of scents you pick up when browsing through old antique stores along Brunswick Street in Melbourne.

The Wear Time: Decent. About 6-7 hours.

Suggested occasions to wear this: I think this can pass as a day time fragrance, though I would be more inclined to wear it at night. This is a non-obtrusive balanced fragrance that you can wear without the fear that it might irritate someone. It is an overall pleasing fragrance that is truly unisex.

Overall: Other than the dry taste it left in my mouth (the last few fragrances I've reviewed have left me with a watering mouth), I quite like it. It is unusual and very evocative. I can see where they got their story from of being in the crisp air in the Blue Mountains of Australia, but to me I think a sense of smokey jazz clubs and old antique stores more accurately captures this fragrance.

Edition 1 Discovery Set by ROEMY

ROEMY also provides a "tester kit". Something that I think all fragrance houses should have. I'm going to have fun trying out all of these.

Unfortunately, I was not able to photograph the box it came in. Due to a shipping accident, my box came a bit in shambles. However, you can see the packaging above. I like the minimalist chic and luxury of the box. Note the tester provided for you to try the scent and decide whether you want to keep it or not.

I hope you enjoyed this fragrance story! Please do subscribe to my blog (see various (they are irritating and I am sorry about that) pop up boxes or sign up in the box below).
